Product Overview
Dow Construction Primer P is a one-component proprietary resin system designed to promote adhesion of silicone sealants to masonry surfaces. It imparts maximum water resistance to the bond in areas where residual water may be present, such as horizontal applications. Dow Construction Primer P is convenient one-part formulation and this film-forming primer resists adhesion degradation due to water immersion. Resin will not discolor when exposed to sunlight. DOWSIL Construction Primer P's composition: proprietary alkoxy silane resin formulation in solvent.
HOW TO USE
Preparation Work
Porous surfaces to be primed should be clean, dry and free from contaminants. Use an abrasive cleaning method and then blow with compressed air to remove dust. (Air compressors used for this purpose must be equipped with traps capable of providing moisture and oil-free air.)
Nonporous surfaces should be solvent cleaned with a two-rag wipe as described in the current Americas Technical Manual.
Application
Apply a thin, uniform layer by brush to the surfaces to be primed, avoiding contact with areas that will not be sealed. Allow the primer to air dry for a minimum of 30 minutes before installation of backer rod and sealant application (primer should be dry to the touch). Sealant should be applied within 8 hours of primer application.

DOWSIL Construction Primer P should be stored between 41 and 77°F in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Containers should be kept tightly sealed when not in use.
LIMITATIONS
DOWSIL Construction Primer P will inhibit the cure of the following DOWSIL construction sealants due to the presence of alcohol in the primer. Do not use DOWSIL Construction Primer P with the sealants noted below unless the application procedure and dry time demonstrate a fully curable sealant/ primer combination.
